2007 British Open by cruise ship

British Open with Perry Golf

From July 14th to July 23

This year on board our private charter of the 122 passenger ms Clipper Adventurer, we sail for the 136th British Open Championship at demanding Carnoustie.

This was the site in 1999 where Jean Van de Velde drew up his trousers and suffered his untimely demise in the burn at 18.

Where Rod Pampling's par 71 led Round One, 18 shots clear of Sergio.

Where Paul Lawrie recovered 10 shots during the Final Round to force a playoff which he won.

Watching the professionals play an Open is unlike any competition during the year, only this time magnified by the stern test of Carnoustie.

Our play on five classic links layouts will be decidedly more hospitable. The tour begins with a throw back among throw backs;

Prestwick, home to the first Open in 1860 and true today to its original character.

Next is the Glashedy Course at Ballyliffin, Ireland's northernmost layout whose stunning views of the Atlantic include waves crashing into Glashedy Rock.

M/S Clipper Adventurer Suite.

Royal Dornoch always earns high marks from our cruise guests and will unquestionably do so again.

Royal Aberdeen is a classic out and back layout which just hosted the 2005 Senior Open Championship won by Tom Watson.

Kingsbarns in St. Andrews is one of the most striking in Scotland even though it is merely seven years open for play.

As always, our cruise is equally entertaining for Non Golfers. A day trip to the Isle of Arran with a ferry crossing to visit Brodick Castle; along Ireland's North Antrim Coast we will see the ruins of Duluce Castle, tour the Bushmills Distillery and walk the lunar landscape of the Giant's Causeway; a shore visit to the Isle of Skye using Zodiac landing craft to reach the incredible Inverewe Gardens; Crathes Castle and Garden; and the "olde grey toon" herself - St. Andrews!

On Sunday 22 July, all will have the opportunity to attend the Final Round of the 136th British Open Championship at Carnoustie. The stage will be set for high drama, particularly so if the day is blessed with even a modest measure of weather!
