Location
Amelia Island is considered one of the world‘s best beaches. Amelia Island
is located north of Jacksonville, and south of The St. Mary's Inlet and Georgia's
Cumberland
Island.
Getting there
Amelia Island Plantation is an easy 3 or 4 day weekend getaway.
Delta and Airtran provide a 45 minute ride to the Jacksonville
Airport from Atlanta. Amelia Island Plantation has a shuttle that
picks up about every hour. Be sure you have a seat on the shuttle
before you arrive in Jacksonville. You can also rent a car at
the Jacksonville Airport. Private and charter airplanes can land
at the Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport. If you're driving from
Atlanta, it's about 6.5 hours including several stops.
Amelia Island offers 7 Golf Courses
Three of of the seven golf courses are on the Plantation. One of the courses,
Ocean Links, parallels the beach with a great view of the Atlantic. Oak
Marsh is on the west side of Amelia Island and has a terrific view of
the St. Johns River. Try to get a tee time before sunset, it's breath
taking. Amelia Island Plantation offers a golf school located at Long
Point. Ask us about corporate golf packages.
Dining
Amelia Island offers plenty of restaurants to keep any gourmet busy. Several
star-rated chefs have left the Ritz Carlton to start their own restaurants
on the island. You can find your choice of quality restaurants with beautiful
sunset views over the water, or visit one of the island's oldest antebellum
home‘s for a great seafood feast. Of course there are plenty of casual cafes
and almost any ethnic restaurant you could think of.
